Evaluation

Image
Evaluation This is an evaluation of my regional Identity project that I have been working on since last year. The project itself has multiple units inside it ranging from initial research to post production work. In this evaluation I will talk about all of the smaller units inside of this big project.  Initial Research To start the project I decided to read through the brief presented to ourselves in full in order to fully understand the task at hand. While reading the brief I managed to find out who the client was for this task. The client was Sunderland Culture and the task at hand was to create either a documentary, poster or short film to showcase regional identity. This would help me out as it would allow me to tailor make my product to suit the company further.  I researched into the company to find out more information about the client, for example finding out where they operate, what they do etc. I found out their mottos and how the become who they are. I then r...

Production & Post Production

Image
Production I have spent the day creating my first draft for my end product. This has helped me to identify areas that I need to improve in my next version. I have ordered all of my clips into specific folders and created 3 different timelines to have 3 mini projects to work on therefore reducing any possible mix ups and issues with clips. I divided the sequences into the following: B-Roll, Talking to camera and introduction. I have ordered them into these sequences so I know what I am working on and can concentrate exactly on the sequence i am on without getting distracted by working on other things.  I also decided to colour code the clips so I knew where each clip came from. This helped me to organize the clips in the main timeline and to help me order them correctly without having to look through each set of clips.   This is what my timeline looked like once they had all been ordered the way I wanted to. This clearly shows me what is what and helps me identify what c...

Test Footage / Edits

Image
Test Introduction Sequence This is a introduction sequence that I have put together to help me plan how I want my documentary opening to look. I have used my own footage and edited it all in Premiere Pro on the Adobe Cloud. I used a variety of tools within the application to help me create my product.  This is how I ordered my footage in a way that I could understand and in a way that would be easy to navigate to boost productivity. I ordered all my media into categories that suit what they are. Each folder has different media in to help me be as productive as possible without having to trail through loads of footage to find what I am looking for.   This is what my finished timeline looked like. I have utilised the layering ability inside Premiere to match my footage up in ways that I liked the look of. The layering helped to me to time certain pieces of footage up with music or markers that I have placed on the timeline. I used the markers to help me to to li...

Filming Diary

08/03/2022  Sunderland vs Fleetwood - Stadium of Light, 19:45    This risk assessment will help me to safe when I attend the football match by eliminating any risks that I could possibly be exposed to while gathering footage.  To record some of the match I just used my phone as it would have been impractical to bring a camera into the stands. I recorded in 1080p at 60fps thus giving me an option to slow my footage down to 30 fps if needed. To make my footage better quality I could possibly see about getting pitch side access to allow me to use my camera and capture better footage at different angles.   19/03/2022 Recording - day 1 This risk assessment will help me to safe when I attend the filming  location match by eliminating any risks that I could possibly be exposed to while gathering footage.  Starting the day at 6am I travelled down to Roker beach to collect footage at sunrise. I chose this time as it would be relatively quiet with some go...

Enquiry Email

Image
This is an enquiry that I put together to send to Sunderland AFC to hopefully help with my documentary. This has been created and sent to hopefully give me access to gather photo and video content for my project to give my documentary some better content to help show the story.

Interviews

Image
Interviews Interviews will play a big part in my documentary as this is the most effective way to get different peoples opinions on things. To keep my documentary interesting I have planned to try and get an interview with a broad range of people, including new fans, older fans and hopefully players or people directly involved with the club itself.  This will therefore hopefully give different perspectives on things so we can see how different people think differently or similarly.  Questions    There are a lot of questions that I could ask in these interviews. However, to keep things short I will limit myself to only key questions in order to keep the audience interested in what they are being asked. Question Rules . The first rule of documentary filmmaking questions is to avoid yes or no answers. Just as the rules of good conversation, asking yes or no answers provides no insights. And it can also quickly work you into a corner. . What do you think of when y...

Pre Production Paperwork

Image
Pre-Production This is my planned idea for my introduction. I have created this storyboard using Adobe Illustrator because photoshop 2021 is currently not optimised and has bugs that make it very difficult to use, mainly the huge temp files it creates make it impossible to use.   I have planned my idea this way as it will capture the attention of the audience if done correctly with the use of sound s and editing techniques.  Risk Assessments - Filming Locations  This risk assessment helps to highlight possible risks that I will be exposed to when gathering footage for my documentary. This will help me to keep safe and also to avoid any health risks so I can be safe when gathering footage. Filming Locations I have decided to record at a few locations in order to make my documentary varied. Changing the location to different places in the region will help maintain the theme of regional identity.  locations include  - Stadium of Light  - Roker...
