I have spent the day creating my first draft for my end product. This has helped me to identify areas that I need to improve in my next version. I have ordered all of my clips into specific folders and created 3 different timelines to have 3 mini projects to work on therefore reducing any possible mix ups and issues with clips. I divided the sequences into the following: B-Roll, Talking to camera and introduction.
I have ordered them into these sequences so I know what I am working on and can concentrate exactly on the sequence i am on without getting distracted by working on other things. I also decided to colour code the clips so I knew where each clip came from. This helped me to organize the clips in the main timeline and to help me order them correctly without having to look through each set of clips.
This is what my timeline looked like once they had all been ordered the way I wanted to. This clearly shows me what is what and helps me identify what clips are what.
Feedback
I decided to gather some feedback on my first draft so I know what to do, in order to improve my product. Looking at the feedback given I can see that overall people liked the product but gave me feedback to add an interview or something, which is something I had forgot to add so the feedback has helped.
When adding the interviews I first edited them together in a separate timeline to keep the main line for the whole product. This helped me to organize my work and keep things separate incase I needed to change anything. I also colour coded them their own unique colour so I can clearly tell what clips belong to what. This therefore helping me when my timeline gets busier.
There is spacing left in the timeline to remind me that there is things I still need to add. I have also decided to re do the bit in the middle after the large section of speaking to camera clips. This is so that's its more fitting to what I have just finished speaking about.
This is the bit of the timeline I have replaced to become more fitting with what I was saying beforehand which is the highlights from the match that I had just mentioned.
When listening to my audio in my documentary I realised that some of the songs and sound effects are coming in rather harshly with no real sense of connection between the videos and audio. To combat this I have went through my timeline and implemented some audio effects to help my video and audio come in nicer and seem more fitting. This has helped the audio to sound better overall and come in with the video clips and go with them with the help for dissolve and reveal effects on the video. I also used audio effects to fade the audio in and out to help combat the loud audio coming in harshly for each clip which doesn't help connect multiple clips together without sounding too out of place.
After completing the first half of my documentary which spoke about how Sunderland progressed through the first half of the season I felt the documentary wasn't quite finished. I found out the deadline for the 1st submission and worked out what I could add. I figured out I had enough time to incorporate the final games of the season, which I had announced at the end of my first draft, and also add the play off games.
I started with a voice over announcing the games and talking about them. I then paired them with footage I sourced on the internet to make the documentary look professional. I yet again used the colour label tool inside Premiere Pro to colour code my clips.
The colour coding helps me to see what clips are what and where they belong.
To put these clips together I utilised the cut and cropping tools within premiere to help with frame sizing and clip length.
This is my finished timeline for my project so far. The different colours are there to signify different clips for different parts of the film. The use of layers have helped me with my sound and also video clips, helping me to balance them
Premiere Pro cut tool
This is my finished product for the first submission. I know there is a couple of small things that can be improved for the second submission but its nothing too major.
I have demonstrated high levels of technical skill by using Premiere pro with features built in. I have have used custom motion graphics and edited them to suit my documentary by either changing text sizes, colour or positioning this helping my product have a sense of branding, keeping with a specific colour scheme throughout this demonstrating technical skills and understanding about semiotics to help hide hidden messages within the documentary by using a strict colour scheme.
I have experiment with different camera angles throughout the documentary to help keep the viewer interested in the video by having subtle changes within. I have utilised a voiceover technique towards the end of the documentary to help show clips of the things I am talking about, thus also showcasing different presentation styles during my documentary.
For this first submission draft I will gather feedback incase there is anything I may have missed apart from the small things that I know about weather that being adding a picture to break up the longer blank frames.
This is some feedback I have gathered to help me to improve my product further.
I have since improved my documentary with the help of this feedback.
This is the ending sequence for my documentary, it consists of the 2nd leg of the playoffs and the trip to Wembley.
receiving some verbal feedback on this project, it was still apparent that the black spaces in between clips were still too long. Therefore I went back into premiere pro and corrected this issue.
For the ending sequence I put together a short highlight sequence of different clips throughout the season including the playoff games with the final. I utilised the opacity tool within Premiere Pro to let the viewer see some action and also some of the fan footage.
This is a prime example of what I have done with the opacity tool to give the viewer a look into both the action unfolding with the crowd display before hand. Personally I like this effect because it shows the passion and the involvement of the crowd and overlayed with the footage of the goal shows the impact the fans can have on the team during a match.
08/03/2022 Sunderland vs Fleetwood - Stadium of Light, 19:45 This risk assessment will help me to safe when I attend the football match by eliminating any risks that I could possibly be exposed to while gathering footage. To record some of the match I just used my phone as it would have been impractical to bring a camera into the stands. I recorded in 1080p at 60fps thus giving me an option to slow my footage down to 30 fps if needed. To make my footage better quality I could possibly see about getting pitch side access to allow me to use my camera and capture better footage at different angles. 19/03/2022 Recording - day 1 This risk assessment will help me to safe when I attend the filming location match by eliminating any risks that I could possibly be exposed to while gathering footage. Starting the day at 6am I travelled down to Roker beach to collect footage at sunrise. I chose this time as it would be relatively quiet with some go...
Test Introduction Sequence This is a introduction sequence that I have put together to help me plan how I want my documentary opening to look. I have used my own footage and edited it all in Premiere Pro on the Adobe Cloud. I used a variety of tools within the application to help me create my product. This is how I ordered my footage in a way that I could understand and in a way that would be easy to navigate to boost productivity. I ordered all my media into categories that suit what they are. Each folder has different media in to help me be as productive as possible without having to trail through loads of footage to find what I am looking for. This is what my finished timeline looked like. I have utilised the layering ability inside Premiere to match my footage up in ways that I liked the look of. The layering helped to me to time certain pieces of footage up with music or markers that I have placed on the timeline. I used the markers to help me to to li...
Pre-Production This is my planned idea for my introduction. I have created this storyboard using Adobe Illustrator because photoshop 2021 is currently not optimised and has bugs that make it very difficult to use, mainly the huge temp files it creates make it impossible to use. I have planned my idea this way as it will capture the attention of the audience if done correctly with the use of sound s and editing techniques. Risk Assessments - Filming Locations This risk assessment helps to highlight possible risks that I will be exposed to when gathering footage for my documentary. This will help me to keep safe and also to avoid any health risks so I can be safe when gathering footage. Filming Locations I have decided to record at a few locations in order to make my documentary varied. Changing the location to different places in the region will help maintain the theme of regional identity. locations include - Stadium of Light - Roker...
